The 2023 Porsche Panamera is a family vehicle with incredible performance, lots of cabin comforts and cargo space. How does it compare to the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE, an electric car that offers plenty of space, comfort and performance of its own?
Design & Style
The Mercedes-Benz EQE is the advanced electric version of the E class. It has slick bodywork with many interesting features, such as a display which extends over the instrument panel’s full width called a Hyperscreen. It has a three hundred mile driving range with the ability to hold up to five passengers. Buyers also have the option of a single or dual motor with all-wheel drive.
The Panamera differs from other Porsche models in a number of ways. The Mercedes-Benz EQE comes with many of the same driver assistance functions as the Panamera, including automated high beams, a camera with 360 degree view, self-parking, emergency automated brakes as well as stop and go. Conveniences within its cabin include a Burmester audio system with fifteen speakers, voice command, augmented reality, and leather upholstery with climate control.
Performance
The most powerful Mercedes-Benz EQE is the dual motor variant, which can generate the equivalent of 402 horsepower. During testing it was able to accelerate from zero to sixty in approximately 5.3 seconds, with a top speed of 130 mph. Those that purchase the Porsche Panamera Turbo S will be able to generate up to 689 horsepower, with the ability to accelerate from zero to sixty in about 2.6 seconds with a maximum top speed of 196 mph.
The Bottom Line
The Porsche Panamera completely outclasses the Mercedes-Benz EQE when it comes to performance, with vastly greater horsepower, acceleration and top speed. The EQE does seat one more passenger, but this comes at the cost of problematic driver assistance and a navigation system that is peculiar, all of which makes the Porsche Panamera the winner.
