2023 Porsche Macan vs. 2023 Lincoln Aviator

The 2023 Porsche Macan offers a pleasant driving experience thanks to its turbocharged engine and exceptional handling. But how does it compare to the 2023 Lincoln Aviator, an SUV coveted for its refined appearance and impressive handling of its own?

Design & Style

The Aviator is smaller than its bigger sibling the Lincoln Navigator, but is also more fuel efficient. It seats up to seven people and comes with an array of tech features, especially the Black Label edition, and its latest updates for this year include the Jet package and a hybrid plugin Grand Touring variant with pixel LED headlights that are adaptive. Two new paint colors have also been introduced, which are Jewel Sandstone and Diamond Red.

The Macan is the second SUV to be offered by Porsche after the larger Cayenne. It seats a maximum of five passengers and is packed with a ton of performance and luxury features, such as standardized all-wheel drive, fourteen speaker audio system, plush seats and LED displays. Its latest update for this year is the trim called Macan T, which includes adaptive suspension as well as launch control and multiple drive models.

Technology & Safety

Like all Porsche models, the Macan can be equipped with the latest driver assistance gear, which includes lane departure alerts; emergency automated brakes and adapted cruise control. Luxuries within its cabin consist of twelve volt outlets, USB ports, wifi, Apple CarPlay, climate control and eleven inch touch displays with heated leather seats.

The Lincoln Aviator comes with the same driver assistance found in the Macan, including emergency automated brakes, lane management, blind area monitoring, adapted cruise control, multiple airbags and pedestrian detection. Its cabin luxuries consist of a ten inch touch display, wifi, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth and a Revel audio system.

Performance

The Lincoln Aviator is powered by a V6, dual turbo engine that can generate 400 horsepower with the ability to accelerate from zero to sixty in around five seconds, with a top speed of 145 mph. The Porsche Macan is also powered by a dual turbo V6 engine, which enables it to generate 434 horsepower with the ability to accelerate from zero to sixty in around 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 160 mph.

The Bottom Line

The Porsche Macan outperforms the Lincoln and would win in a race, but the Aviator seats two extra passengers. However, its rear seats don’t offer much space, its engine is loud, and the Grand Touring model doesn’t provide sufficient electrified advantages. Finally, its door released button is awkward to use and the hybrid plugin is a bit underwhelming, and this makes the more refined Porsche Macan the winner.
