2022 Porsche Cayenne vs. 2022 Genesis GV80

Despite being an auto industry newcomer, the 2022 Genesis GV80 has already received praise due to its exquisite appearance, well-tailored cabin and serene driving experience. But can it unseat the 2022 Porsche Cayenne, a premiere SUV which is regarded by many as being the best in the world thanks to its power, luxury and impressive towing capacity?

Design & Style

The Cayenne is Porsche’s most powerful SUV and the big brother of the Macan. It has two rows and is capable of seating five passengers, and uses a powertrain which is quite cohesive. The cabin is airy and extremely opulent, with supple leather seats and numerous customization choices. Its latest feature for this year includes improved voice recognition and Apple CarPlay wireless.

The Genesis GV80 is a formidable SUV that uses a dual turbo engine and has a cabin lined in leather. It can hold seven passengers and offers all-wheel drive with a front style engine. Its latest feature for this year is the Prestige Matte Trim which can be purchased with multiple paint colors such as Brunswick Green, Melbourne Gray or Matterhorn White.

Technology & Safety

The Genesis GV80 has earned solid safety scores and comes with numerous driver assistance functions such as semi-autonomous operation, adapted cruise control, pedestrian detection and emergency automated brakes. Perks within its cabin include fifteen inch touch displays, climate control, massage seats and ambient lighting.

The Porsche Cayenne comes with many of the same driver assistance features as the Genesis, including stop and go, parking sensors, lane management, infrared camera, night vision, frontal impact alerts and blind area monitoring. Perks inside its cabin include a twenty one speaker audio system from Burmester, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wifi, rotary controller, and climate control with ventilated seats.

Performance

The Porsche Cayenne is one of the world’s best performing SUVs. Those that purchase the GTS version will get a V8 engine that can generate 460 horsepower with the ability to accelerate from zero to sixty in just 4.2 seconds and a towing capacity of 7.700 pounds. Those that purchase the Genesis GV80 will get a V6, 3.5 liter engine that can generate 375 horsepower with the ability to accelerate from zero to sixty in 5.3 seconds, with a towing capacity of 6,000 pounds.

The Bottom line

Though the Genesis GV80 seats two extra passengers, its performance and towing capacity are inferior to the Porsche. And this combined with the GV80’s tight third row, heavier weighted steering and standardized 4 cylinder that lacks the needed punch makes the Porsche Cayenne the superior sport utility vehicle.
