2021 Porsche 911 vs. 2021 McLaren 765LT

There are few cars on Earth that can rival the 2021 Porsche 911. Its spectacular presentation, world class engineering and incredible performance make it truly awe inspiring. But what happens when it goes against the 2021 McLaren 765LT, a car with unbelievable performance and a six figure price tag?

Design & Style

The McLaren 765LT has a long tailed body that is sharp and so pleasing to look at. A rear wing can be seen in back, with an extended diffuser. A roof scoop has also been added which transfers air to its engine, and like most super cars, carbon fiber is used all over the place. 4 large outlets can be seen in the center near the back mesh, and the cabin is absolutely lavish, with ultra-comfortable seats.

The latest Porsche 911 continues the teardrop shape that was made famous by its predecessors. Its haunches have been enlarged, with an outer frame that is rich in aluminum. It comes in a variety of colors and customization options, which can be configured to your exact specifications. The cabin is opulent and covered in premium materials, with enough space to comfortably seat four.

Technology & Safety

The Porsche 911 is well outfitted with the latest safety technology. This includes the ability to monitor blind spots, cruise and lane control, automated emergency brakes, stability control, night vision and a camera with surround view. Luxuries within its cabin are extensive, and include heated seats, Apple CarPlay, 10.9 inch displays, a 150 watt sound system with eight speakers and climate control.

Despite its extremely high price tag, the McLaren 765LT lacks many of the safety features found in the 911. It does have adaptive suspension with stiff dampers and tires from Trofeo, as well as a brake booster system which provides greater pedal modulation and feel.  Its infotainment consists of eight inch touchscreens which are vertically oriented and positioned in the central stack. However, the engine is so loud that it is difficult to listen to music or enjoy other multimedia activities.

Performance

The McLaren 765LT is a fighter jet on wheels. It comes with a dual turbo V8 engine that is 4 liter and capable of generating 754 horsepower with 590 pounds of torque, which is wedded to a dual clutch seven speed transmission that allows it to go from zero to sixty in 2.7 seconds.  Those who purchase the Porsche 911 Turbo S will be able to generate 640 horsepower with 590 pounds of torque, which enables it to accelerate from zero to sixty in just 2.6 seconds, with a 205 mph maximum speed.

The Bottom Line

Like most super cars, the McLaren 765LT sacrifices everything for speed. It only seats two passengers, lacks many safety features found in lesser cars, and has weak infotainment, and yet it still doesn’t surpass the Porsche 911, which seats twice as many passengers yet matches the McLaren in top speed and acceleration, making it the winner.
