2018 Porsche 911 vs. 2018 Nissan GT-R

“A superlative sports car!” this 2018 Porsche 911 has definitely defied its age. Compared to all other sports car arena newcomers, it outperforms them with grace and classic style. But, to be fair to the “Japanese supercar torch,” the 2018 Nissan GT-R does offer dual clutch gear changes, all-wheel-drive, and twin turbo power.

Design & Style

The Porsche company knows it would be hard-pressed to improve on the 911’s iconic shape – so they didn’t. You know what they say, if it’s not broken – don’t fix it.

Passenger capacity for both cars is designed for four people.

The Nissan GT-R is designed with a 19.5-gallon gas tank as opposed to the 16.9-gallon gas tank on the Porsche 911. Which is fortunate considering that the GT-R gets 20 miles per gallon highway and 16 miles per gallon city compared to the Porsche 911’s 29 miles per gallon highway and 22 miles per gallon city.

Technically speaking, the 2018 Porsche 911 is classified as a mini compact car, while the 2018 Nissan GT-R is classified as a subcompact.

Technology & Safety

Standard safety features on both cars consist of review cameras, daytime running lights, skid prevention electronic stability systems, traction control, four-wheel antilock brakes, front seatbelt pre-tensioners, side impact head airbags, front and side impact airbags, and passenger frontal airbags.

Breaking and stopping power is pretty even for these two automobile choices. Both vehicles have rack and pinion steering.

With rocket-ship acceleration, rapid-fire dual clutch shifts, and incredible composure and all-wheel-drive grip, it’s hard to fault the Nissan GT-R. Fortunately, the Porsche 911 offers a wide range of powertrains and capability while sticking with the breathtaking performance that has made Porsche what they are today.

The 2018 portion 911 offers 370 hp at 6500 RPM, and a gasoline direct injection twin turbo premium unleaded H6. The 2018 Nissan GT-R has 565 hp at 6800 RPM under the hood as well as a V6 twin turbo premium unleaded engine with a fuel system classified as Sequential MPI.

Overall, the Nissan may offer a lot more standard features and increased horsepower when compared to the basic Porsche 911. What people sometimes fail remember, however, is that the 911 comes in no less than 20 different types. Options and horsepower are available in abundance in the more heightened, fully loaded models.

The Bottom Line

Frequently, the Porsche 911 gets faulted (as do many premium, high performance, high quality cars) as being exorbitantly priced. Ladies and gentlemen, it’s a Porsche! it deserves the price tag that it has. On the other hand, the price tag for the 2018 Nissan GT-R far exceeds its brand. In fact, Nissan has been exhibiting sizable price hikes annually for some time now.
