About Commack, NY

Commack is a census-designated place located on the Long Island of Suffolk County. It is home to the oldest Methodist Church, which was built in the year 1789, as the Comac Church. Being one of the oldest buildings in Commack, it has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The name of the hamlet has been derived from the Native Americans who lived on the southern shore of Long Island, between Bayport and Copiague.
